| Trance: a
definition Trance music is a subgenre of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) developed in the '90s. It can be described as a melodic musical genre, more or less freely derived from a combination of Techno and House. Every song starts with very electronic resonances, often monotonous, to which are added little by little other instruments, playing very melodic strophes; sometimes dreamy, sometimes hymny, but always very "emotional"... Often accompanied by female voices that sing repetitiously or that sing almost whispering the words. Trance songs are often interrupted by very sweet melodic situations, without any beat. After a little the rhythm starts again, but with even more energy... At present Trance music is most danced of all the disco musical genres in the World; it has been, in fact, the soundtrack of the Olimpic Games 2004 in Greece. Trance: more in detail Many subgenres of trance exist: Melodic Trance Surely the most beautiful subgenre that, in effects, identifies itself with the simple Trance. Its descrition is then that of the preceding paragraph: energic music that, however, is made of sweet melodies and voices that can be utilized for example in an arpas concert... It has got two subgenres: Uplifting and Pop. Uplifting Trance It's the first subgenre of Melodic Trance and it is descrivible as the most sentimental and emotional kind of electronic music ever... In fact "uplifting" is really the effect that it has over the dancefloors!... In particular, also if all the others Trance subgenres are touched, the Uplifting Trance is the supporting column of the AIT events... Pop Trance It's the second subgenre of Melodic Trance, very popular expecially in Germany. Melodies are more cheerfulish, so that voices are more ringing and with less elaborated lyrics. It's a "simple" (Popular) subgenre, but very enjoyable. Goa Trance Also known as just Goa, it's native of a region of India with the same name. It's a very fast subgenre, in which the melody is composed with electronic synthethizers that play very fast strophes; other than that the songs are in the end a little monotonous. Psychedelic Trance Directly derived from Goa, and with whom sometimes is confused, the Psy Trance is in effects very similar; to the electronic melodies are added ambient melodies that make it more various, the bass is more fat and some times there are some sampled voices. Minimal Trance It's a subgenre closer to Techno, generally the melody is a loop, therefore very repetitious, where sometimes are added some vocal samples, repetitious too. Hard Trance Practically Techno, Hard Trance is however different because it has, other than a repetitious part of the songs, electronic and with a very strong beat, another part absolutely melodic often enhanced by Breakbeat beats; that makes is a very clashing subgenre. Deejays The homeland of trance music is in the high part of Europe, and for this reason the trance deejays biggest names belong to that area. Also in the UK trance is very popular, and so in mani regions of the United States. Some names of the most famous are: Tiësto (World's most famous dj...!)
